How marking structures differ between product categories
Different Chestny ZNAK product groups use different data structures: serial lengths, security fields and sometimes additional attributes such as weight. That changes the expected Data Matrix size.
For packaged water, a 14-digit GTIN plus a 13-character serial and a short security section often leads to a 22×22 symbol. Dairy often uses a shorter serial and may therefore fit into a smaller matrix.
Light industry, footwear, supplements, grocery and some electronics often carry longer strings, so larger matrices are common.
In practice, the category name alone is not enough. The most useful asset is a real knowledge base of actual examples: image, decoded string, matrix size, GTIN and manufacturer.
That kind of structured example set dramatically accelerates damaged-code work because it tells the software and the operator what to expect.
So category knowledge is not just SEO content; it is also part of the technical foundation of recovery.
| Product group | Format reference |
|---|---|
| Packaged water | 22×22 is seen in our water examples; the serial field has 13 characters. |
| Dairy | 20×20 or 22×22 are capacity examples; the serial field is shorter and weight may be included. |
| Soft drinks | The size depends on the complete string and encoding. |
| Beer | Compact formats are used. |
| Supplements, grocery, oils | Short and long formats may apply. |
| Light industry | Longer payloads generally require more capacity. |
| Footwear | A longer verification field increases the required capacity. |
| Electronics | Size depends on the serial field and the selected format. |
